the tone of this is perfect for the subject. gives it an ageless quality. and such a great scene you've created here. love this.

i have such a hard time taking b&w photos of nature - i'm always impressed when people can do it.

Thank you raingirl - yes it is the magical Pentax 645N again -

I do think that medium format cameras capture a very different kind of image from more conventional SLRs.

At the time, I also felt like I didn't know what I was doing -

this was not exactly 'nature' - it was next to a car park in Knaresborough Yorkshire, and I had to be quick, because just after I had taken the photo, a bunch of kids came along and ran about all over it...!

oh yes, medium format is definitely its own thing (never have gotten to use a 6 x 4.5 format camera - i think i'd like it). i grew up using a Rollei square (medium) format camera and had to re-learn how to take a photo when i switch to 35mm (i kept having to crop my photos because i kept seeing in square - ha!).

i think we rarely give ourselves the credit we deserve - you obviously knew what you were doing.

love the story of where it was and the kids arriving moments later. its a reminder that our photography is still art and not just journalism.

and thanks for adding to my group!
