Las Lloronas

Las Lloronas
From the folkloric mythology of Latin America, the legend of the "Llorona" or "Weeping Woman" prevails for its presence. It is known from Chile to Mexico with variations, but keeping its essence based on a taboo: a mother that kills her child.
Acrylics on hardboard. 2002.

Thank you very much, Marko. They were painted long time ago, I haven't painted since, or at least not in that scale. At that time I was very interested in tales, myths and legends. This year I am going to take a year long art workshop with the theme fairy-tales. (I prefer the german term : Märchen, since the "fairy" is misleading, most of them don't have them). That is why I fished them out of my old files. :) Let´s see what happens.
