I like the way telephoto's pack the perspective, I don't think this picture would work if it was a crop from a wide angle.

I hope you won't think of me as a 'Smart Alec', but perspective depends on where you stand, not which lens you use. Had you used a wide angle lens and selected this tiny area of your image to enlarge, the view would still look like it does in your picture. What a telephoto lens provides is a sensation of packed perspective.

Yes, absolutely. You just get to see the 'compression' as you take the picture with a tele' lens. It's not a picture I would have taken with a wide lens thinking about getting that image.
