$500 per Day Habit

$500 per Day Habit
Blood thinner: This stuff is up to $800 per injection in hospitals. I think my insurance company is only having to pay about $250 per injection, and I get to stick myself twice a day - subcutaneous injections all over my thighs, belly, and obliques. Most of the injection sites leave a small hematoma, but some leave big bruises that take a week or longer to go away.

A while back, one of my knees blew up to the size of a cantaloupe. With the immobility and diminished circulation, I got clobbered with massive blood clots up and down my leg and thigh. It takes a long time to get rid of all that.

They thought I was clear after three months, so the twice-per-day injections ceased. 10 days later, the blood clots were back,

Looks like another 6 months of needle jabs twice a day. The jabs aren't the bad part. That stuff burns and aches for a good half hour after injecting it.
