Derbyshire Wye - Breezy Day - Looking across to Wiksup Wood
This is a bitter sweet image for me as it is the penultimate photograph I will ever make with this camera. Why? It is too good to use. Imagine buying a camera that was made in 1907 to find that it has almost certainly never been used. To all intents and purposes it was "New Old Stock" (NOS). There was not a mark on it anywhere (until I made one underneath when fiddling with the tripod screw) and there is the rub. It will decline in its perfection if I drag it around the river valleys of Derbyshire and so a unique, perfect example of the Whole plate sized, Criterion View Camera from Gundlach - Manhattan Optical Company of Rochester, New York would be ruined. I need to find a museum that would want and appreciate this camera so it could stay perfect for at least another 107 years...
