Leccinum insigne
These Boletes are such colourful mushrooms and always a delight to come across in the forest. This was just one of quite a few that we saw during a Fungi Foray out at West Bragg Creek, Kananaskis, on 24 August 2013. It's very difficult, if not almost impossible to identify most Leccinum species with scientific certainty. Our leader, who was able to examine this mushroom in the field, gave us the ID.
