Out and Away

Taken behind Clyde Butcher's gallery in southwest Florida.

Downstream

08 Mar 2014 216
A highlight of the "Hernia Challenge," in which I tried to photograph roughly the same stuff with an RB67 and a 4x5 monorail, to see if there was a clear advantage to the larger format in my photography. After lugging, I guess, about 40 lbs of equipment through the woods, I determined that the RB holds up pretty well.

Make Way

Severed limb toward the bottom of a gigantic evergreen in our front yard.

Off and Rolling

08 Mar 2014 183
My daughter recently learned how to ride without training wheels. It was as impressive as it was inevitable.

Old Roberts

01 Nov 2014 2 2 193
Roberts Camera in downtown Indianapolis recently moved its location, from this wonderfully textured brick building on the left, to a larger spot a couple miles north. Partially, I imagine, because this narrow parking "situation" (calling it a lot would be generous) was less than ideal.

Hayride 2014

01 Nov 2014 172
How many years back would you have to go to have people, you know, looking *out* at the farm?

Shoot For The Stars

Telescope-looking kaleidoscope in Three Oaks, Michigan.

Uncle Gary at the Cookout

01 Nov 2014 175
This Labor Day, we got to hang out with my wife's great uncles, who are indeed great. As I recall, I set the Olympus IS-1 to overexpose by a couple of stops, since the afternoon was bright and I was shooting from the garage, but I also think my experiment of mixing Xtol with Rodinal in the development helped give this the smooth-but-contrasty look I'm seeing here. I like it.

Lodged

13 Oct 2014 2 205
Over the levee behind our house, the White River's level varies between where you see it here and about 10 or 15 feet up. It must've been during one of those high periods of heavy rain or spring melt that this gorgeous tree remnant washed into place between two neighboring live trees.

Rapids, But Just Part

13 Oct 2014 3 214
A crop from a much larger original shot, largely wrecked because I couldn't get the developer into the Combi-Plan tank fast enough. I still liked this part, though.

Summer

27 Aug 2014 4 188
I really can't say what happened to make this so dramatically underexposed. Other shots on the same roll came out fine. But this one was my favorite.

Stamm Park

27 Aug 2014 2 174
Stumbled across this little protected area near Broad Ripple in Indianapolis. Nice work protecting it, Indianapolis!

Sprinkle

What's summer without a sprinkler?

Resident

23 Mar 2014 1 150
In person, this white bird was striking and stood out right away. In color, less so, and in black and white I think it takes a while to spot him! Taken in front of Clyde Butcher's Big Cypress Gallery.

Disused

23 Mar 2014 1 183
Some sort of way station along US 41/Tamiami Trail, Southwest Florida.

Strangler Fig

23 Mar 2014 1 137
Initially shot on Fuji Velvia, and it was pretty like that too. But I think I like this better.

Fakahatchee Strand Boardwalk

23 Mar 2014 1 148
I shot this in color, on slide film, but wasn't in love with the results. Converting to BW gave me some nice options, though!
