The body is not the essence of the human person. ( PLATO)

Plato proves this through the process of elimination.
There are three possibilities, one is that the human person is essentially a soul or a body or a combination of body and soul. The body does not rule itself, therefore it cannot be the body. And if the body does not rule itself it cannot be in combination of the body and soul ruling, therefore the soul rules over the body, and the soul is the essence of the human person.

This is so beautiful, Annemarie. And the quote made me stop and think about the words for some time to see how I felt about what Plato said. I agree! :) And I am feeling sad for you on this day of memory. So sorry that your mom is gone, but August 2nd is a wonderful day to be born. An awesome artist who I had the privilege to know was born on this day, and another friend who raised horses was born on this day too. My first Caique parrot (Pumpkin is also a Caique) was born on this day as well. She died from an accident and the following depression from her loss nearly ended me. Here is hoping that you can remember the wonderful memories that wash over you with love and joy. I will do the same with my dear Squeaky girl, how I miss her every day. We love our August 2nd birthday spirits very much!

This sunset reminded me on how many times I traveled up to the alps for this date, just to hug my mamma ( we leave at 700 km far away from each othre....but life brought me to Rome...)

well its great to remember people we loved, as Plato says, the soul counts.
