Scarecrow Candid - I'm the Piped Piper - follow me to the Scarecrow Festival

Scarecrow Candid - I'm the Piped Piper - follow me to the Scarecrow Festival
LR-3019-PS - As you can see on the approach to Chillerton village you are greeted by the Piped Piper of Hamlin and his bright colours with the rats following. An amazing amount of effort has gone into many of the Scarecrow's in the festival. This only won 3rd prize!

I will admit held off posting after all the comments about all the people leaving flickr (all 52 million registered users or 8.2 million active users that is)

Taken during in the Gatcombe and Chillerton Scarecrow Festival the effort and quality of some of the scarecrows is amazing, the humour as well is brilliant, hats off to the people that do this every other year.

It's a very colourful scarecrow, but not scary at all?
- except for the many creepy rats! =(
Must have been a fun day out for you =)

But is a scarecrow meant to be scary to humans ?
During in some research on vernacular names, quite interesting to see that the early one's were more like modern day mannequins, they went through various stages of development as well.
Not something you see now days in the UK a proper scarecrow, more spinning CD's, DVD's and alike.

No, I guess a scarecrow doesn't have to scare humans =)
I have seen too many US-american horror movies starring a scary scarecrow!
