Pic du Midi de Bigorre
The bump in the background is the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, commonly known as 'Pic du Midi', it sits at an altitude of 9,439 feet (2,877m) and is located in the French Pyrenees. It’s famous for its astronomical observatory, the 'Observatoire du Pic du Midi de Bigorre', which holds the ‘Bernard Lyot Telescope’, the largest in France. The observatory can be visited by cable car from the village (and ski resort) of La Mongie, and, at a price, you can stay overnight. Needless to say, it’s on my bucket list…..
