Couldn't resist another couple of shots of these bright big flowers as it was such a beautiful morning. Taken with my big lens (500mm) it packs in a lot of detail.

Beautiful shot!

It's interesting that the EXIF shows the lens as a AF-S VR Nikkor 300mm f/2.8G IF-ED II and yet gives the focal length as 500mm! Very strange. An ipernity bug, perhaps?

No bug Chris, the lens is as you described, but it's my birding lens so I have a Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-17E II fitted. Cheaper than buying the 400 or 500mm version and I certainly couldn't hand hold either of those!

Hello Stephen,

I have never worked with a 500mm lens, I have a 100-400mm, but without tripod is difficult through the vibration.
Nevertheless a wonderful picture, perfect done.

All these are handheld John, very heavy at times with a big lens, but a good lens always shines through.
