(Not So) Splendid Fairy Wren

(Not So) Splendid Fairy Wren
Splendid Fairy Wren (Malurus splendens splendens) (12-14cm) Male. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. He had a little paper bag on his head but it fell off.

He would have looked like this during the breeding season ... www.ipernity.com/doc/291451/26517443 ... and this when he's finished moulting ... www.ipernity.com/doc/291451/17706659

Minty Chewson, Jenny Thynne, Nicole Le Roy, Christina Port and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

What a dear sweetie in his patchwork dress! He is likely glad to soon spend his vacation incognito, almost as a brown job....

Looks like he just came out of a bucket of blue dye. I have never seen one so mottled. Wonderful capture.
