Bremen's Countryside
Back home... ;) Well, I used to live in this part of Bremen when I was little. We had a house on the dyke.

Das war glücklicherweise nicht nötig! Ich befand mich ja auf der asphaltierten Strasse - und die war trocken! ;)

A beautiful watery world. I would be a little nervous having a home on a dyke, although this is very similar to a lot of the low laying land in some parts of the area where I live.

As far as I know never anything happened to the houses there - although the water sometimes came up quite high. My mother told us the story when she woke up one morning and had the waves right in front of our garden. I was too small, I can't remember it. Only the skating part - I think I will post a picture of it - as February was the common time to go skating there.

Yes, I can imagine the waves lapping at the front garden. Quite a few of the rivers in my area are dyked and it's not uncommon to have flooding, sometimes breaching the dykes. Fortunately I live up on high ground!
