Frost & Snow

Frosted Green Water Tank Abstract

05 Jan 2012 1 197
We have a few tanks on our property used to hold water from our well, and as I wandered around one morning looking for frost-covered things, I was very surprised to see how interesting and pretty the formation of frost looked on this otherwise unremarkable plastic tank. This image was taken in December, 2011.

Sparkling Hose

[best appreciated at full size against black] Yet another ordinary object turned into something very special with the addition of frost! Why, this hose has extremely fancy hair now, don't you think?! :D What fun! By the way, one of the images I showed yesterday was an abstract of frost on our green water tank. This is another view of that tank with the hose coming of the side! This image was taken in December, 2011.

An Oldy but a Goody! Frosted Netting

08 Jan 2012 30 18 518
Since ipernity's Uploading Function is Down... I'm joining the bandwagon in pushing an older picture to the front so it can be viewed. It's a shame that so many of our pictures have been buried by time, but now we have the opportunity to give them a new lease on life! :) This Picture I got my brand new Canon 5D Mk II only a couple of months before (November 2011) and with it, the same beloved 100mm 2.8L macro lens that I have glued to my current camera, the 5D Mk IV! This is a picture of the deer-proof net that we used to surround one of my garden areas. I was struck by the beauty of the frost that clings so beautifully to the plastic! My original text from 2012: Living on 26 acres means that there are endless possibilities for macro shots! I had such fun rooting around for interesting things covered in frost, and this really surprised me! I'd forgotten about the netting we used for our garden, so when I saw it, I was delighted and amazed at how cool it looked covered with frost! (you will see my old use of frame too!) Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! I try to go to all of your pages within a day or two and is a highlight for me to see your beautiful photography! :)

(best appreciated at full size against black) One of the things I adore is taking a macro of something that's very hard to recognize, but once you know what it is, you say, "OH YEAH!" Here is a portion of the edge of our bulldozer's blade, touched by frost! This image was taken in October, 2011.

Snow-Covered Weed with Sun Flare

16 Jan 2012 39 17 441
(Originally posted 1/12/2012) [best appreciated at full size against black] Original Post: It finally SNOWED last night!!! So this morning I got my lazy a** out of bed early to hunt for some pretty shots. There was very little snow and it wasn't very spectacular, but when the sun started shining over the property, I found this image! I hope you like it!! New Comment: Although it's been cold, we haven't seen any snow except up on the hills. Plenty of rain though, and that's good! I hope everyone is holding up ok...I must admit that I've been pretty depressed lately. A new highly-contagious strain of covid, way too many stupid people ignoring rules and basic safety practices, the soaring numbers...it's just so terrible. However, I'm really happy that there are now vaccines being released! I hope they are distributed to the majority of the population soon but we aren't holding our breaths. Stay safe, warm and dry!

Snow Falling on Leaves Locked in Ice-Covered Pond

18 Jan 2012 236
[best appreciated at full size against black] This was another image I took on the day it snowed! We have a seasonal pond which is semi-frozen right now, and I found these richly-colored leaves partly submerged in the ice with snow on them. I love the depth that ice gives to whatever is stuck in it, don't you?! I have two other images uploaded today that I hope you'll vist! Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! Frosted Sugar Leaf Tips

20 Jan 2012 264
[best appreciated at full size against black] If you've ever stopped to take a close look at how frost forms, you'll notice that on leaves which lay on the ground, frost often looks just like crystalized sugar! It is a joy to be able to capture this beauty with my new camera and 100mm lens!! This image was taken in January, 2012.

Min-Max: Frost is Off the Charts!

22 Jan 2012 259
[best appreciated at full size against black] On my frosty photo walk a while back, I was constantly amazed to see how frost forms on various objects...this tiny red gauge, part of a water hose attachement, is positively festive with fancy frosty crystals all over it! This image was taken in November, 2011.

Frosted Leaf Stuck in Weeds with a Burr Audience

21 Jan 2012 251
[best appreciated at full size against black] On my frosty photo walk around our property, I noticed that this leaf got stuck on its fall to the ground, and stood at crisp attention, frozen in time. Close inspection revealed a very fine line of frost along some of the edges, and it was positioned just right to see a lovely translucent glow of sunlight. I also love how the burrs seem to be looking at this awesome leaf in amazement! :D I have two more images uploaded today that I hope you'd like to see! Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! Frosted Stick

19 Jan 2012 206

Here we have frost marching along this stick in an organized, proper line! :D I have two other images uploaded today that I hope you'll take a peek at! Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! I try to go to all of your pages within a day or two and is a highlight for me to see your beautiful photography! :) This image was taken in January, 2012.
