Pictures for Pam, Day 81: Macro Monday: Medicine

Pictures for Pam, Day 81: Macro Monday: Medicine
(+14 insets...7 from now, seven from my last "Medicine" theme) :D ENJOY!! :D

Today is Macro Monday! I've been looking forward to working on the topic, "Medicine," since it was announced last week. Funny enough, the group I was involved with a few years back (Bokeh Thursday) used the same topic (I've included insets so you can see what I came up with back then)! One thing I remembered was that there's just no end to the fun pictures you can take of pills and various forms of medicine.

I spent a while on Sunday playing around with various ideas and ended up using spills for my pictures (A spill is when you pour a number of items onto a surface and allow them to fall as they like). I love the organic feel of this kind of picture and the wonderful bokeh that happens with anything sitting in the background.

The medicines I used were actually vitamins, considered to be medicine depending on how you feel about this sort of thing. That's enough exuse for me, and we have plenty of them so I went to town with pills from our daily doses! Multi-vitamin, vitamin D, wheat grass, fish oil and Quonol...all of them were great fun to shoot! I ended up with 7 current insets, 7 insets from my past project and my main image which features Vitamin D gel capsules! (Two of them are other versions of vitamins I already shared so I played with their colors in red and purple…PRETTY!!!)

Pam, I am sure you're no stranger to medicine. The older we get, the more junk we need to add to our systems it seems. Oddly enough, Steve and I don't use much medicine since we changed to a ketogenic lifestyle...we don't get colds, we don't get sick. Our aches and pains basically went away. (did you know that most of us have a lot of unknown inflammation which causes this?) I know that removing carbohydrates seems impossible to a lot of people but once we learned how to cook foods that ended up being a much tastier alternative, it was an easy transition. The health benefits are remarkable and for those who suffer from pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes, keto is known to reverse and eliminate it! There are many other remarkable life-changers but many people do keto to lose weight...Steve lost 45 pounds and I lost 17. Keto is also great way to remove medication from your life, but in regards to brain injuries, I did find an article from a woman who suffered a stroke and keto helped her a lot. I wonder if it could help you?
Here's the link: Healing from a stroke
I am thinking about you every day! *BIG HUGGGGGS* from southern Oregon!

Didn't know vitamins could be that beautiful, and as to taking photos of them, the thought never even entered my mind. Great series and so very well photographed. My favorites, of course, are the more colorful gel caps. The different colors are amazing. Have to try this with some of the vitamins I take.

We are now on the west side of the Cascades at son Edward's and wife Jessica's house. Had a pleasant drive over except for the area around Seattle which was busy and I hate. At least we missed rush hour. Usually we make this drive at night to avoid traffic but had no choice today. Had a meeting in Spokane this morning and one over here this evening . . . and I'm supposed to be retired!

The passes, always a worry this time of the year, were good - dry and not too busy. We've come through them in the winter when the trip has taken twice the time as usual because of snow and bad roads and the need to chain up, which is the worst of all.

Saw Mount Baker as the sun began to set and it was wonderful to see it again. Can't see it, of course, from the other side of the state, but today it was like meeting an old friend again, and we hope to renew acquaintance tomorrow when we go snowshoeing.

JANET... THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT TYPES OF STROKE !!!!!!!

IT IS DANGEROUS TO GENERALIZE.

THIS WOMAN WAS CONSCIOUS... I WAS UNCONSCIOUS AND UNRESPONSIVE FOR OVER 2 WEEKS....

MY STOKE WAS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT VARIETY.. CAUSED BY AN AVM en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arteriovenous_malformation

I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD IN MINUTES IF I HAD DONE THE SAME STUNTS AS SHE DID.. I WOULDNT FORTUNATELY BEEN ABLE... I WAS UNCONSCIOUS.... ON A VENTILATOR.... MY SCALP WAS CUT OPRN... MY SKULL HOLED TO RELEASE THE PRESSURE OF 2 PINTS OF BLOOD COMING FROM THE AVM.

JANET... DIETS (PROVIDING YOU EAT HEALTHILY AND WE DO) DO NOT AID THE RECOVERY FROM A STROKE SUCH AS MY TYPE.

Beautifully photographed Janet. This is soooo beautiful.
We used to have cod liver oil capsules when we were small. My mum used to hide them in our porridge! When we found them we of course complained.

O Janet, gleich ein ganzes Medizinbuch hast du geschrieben.
In der Wikipedia steht u.a.:

Stunning photography, Janet! I think you have perfected this technique! It is amazing what you can do with a subject as mundane as pills! I will have to look into the Ketogenic diet; I have heard of it, but don't know much about it.

A delightful series of pics..........all are pretty much perfectly composed and taken with spot-on focus and gorgeous out of focus backgrounds. Any of them could have made it as your main image, especially if you were choosing from the gel capsules, which are simply translucent loveliness! In this case though I think you picked exactly the right one - the golden capsules are just splendid on the dark background. I also particularly like the lovely pastel wall of round tablets!

Really first-rate close up photography..!!

Can I ask what you use as a base for your shots with the dark backgrounds............I don't think it's a mirror, but it's lovely and shiny and reflective?

What a remarkable and colourful series of images, Janet. Pills are not something I'd ever considered photographing. All are beautifully taken, but my personal preference would be for the series on the gloss black background (incl the main image).
