All about MV Walla Walla...

All about MV Walla Walla...
A plaque with some details on the construction of the passenger/automobile ferry MV Walla Walla. I found it amusing that this large seagoing vessel was funded with motor vehicle taxes. Of course, it _does_ carry automobiles, so it makes perfect sense, but it still seemed incongruous! The Washington State Dept. of Transportation (WSDOT), which operates the ferry, runs the largest ferry fleet in the US and one of the largest in the world. It plies the waters of Puget Sound, so that effectively many of the communities around the Sound are part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Btw, Walla Walla is a city in southeastern Washington very near the Oregon line.

You would have thought a bit of ship info would have been added, tonnage, speed etc.
Interesting commentary.

Well, I guess it was more important to show who built it and who paid for it ;) Glad you found the information of interest!
