I miss San Francisco. Lovely shot of the bridge, Deborah.

Thank you, David. I have to be honest, though and say that this is not my photo (mine are the FujiFine Pix F31fd.)
We were with so many friends and relatives, though, (so many iPhone users!) I can't credit it.
Did you live there? Or just visit?
Whoops, I've just seen on another photo that you used to live near a grove of redwoods. Lucky you. When was that?

Ah, still a lovely photo. :)

Yes, I lived in the Bay Area on the peninsula for most of the 1990s. My family has a tradition of emigrating to the US, having one or two children whilst there and then returning back to the UK for various reasons. 3 generations now. And given that 2 of my 3 kids were born there it may well continue.

Wow, that's wild! What a unique pattern.
I'm sure I would have chosen to go back if I'd had the choice when we first emigrated.
I definitely feel part of both worlds, though I haven't been back to England in a very long time.

Yes. Not many seem to have this repeating pattern. Grandparents were forced back due to the Great Depression closing their small business. Next generation went out in the 60s but came back for medical/insurance reasons - back to the good old NHS. I was working for a US company and went out to its HQ in for 2-3 years but ended up staying much longer. My wife is dual US-UK national and so we have family here and over there. :)
