Première-cast "L'Africaine" (6); Victor Warot as Don Alvaro by Erwin Hanfstaengl
Victor Warot (1834-1906). Belgian tenor. In 1858 he made his debut at the Opéra-Comique Paris in Limnander's “Les Monténégrins”. From 1861-1868 he was engaged at the Grand-Opéra Paris. In the years 1868/69 and 1870/74 he sang at the La Monnaie Theatre in Brussels. He sang at 4 premières: as harvester Faucheur in Meyerbeer's "Dinorah" (1859), Beppe in Donizetti's "Rita" (1860), Tebaldo in Massé's "La mule de Pedro" (1865) and Don Alvaro in Meyerbeer's "L'Africaine" (1865). In 1888 he retired from the stage and then worked as a singing teacher in Paris.

On the photo from 1865 he is seen as Don Alvaro in Meyerbeer’s “L’Africaine”.
