Anna Braunhofer-Masius by Wagner
Anna Braunhofer-Masius (1832-1909); German soprano. In 1853 she started her career at the “Hoftheater von Dessau” where she remained until 1855. From 1856 until 1863 she was engaged at Kassel, Darmstadt, Breslau and Hamburg. From 1864/69 she was at Karlsruhe. In her first marriage she was married to the actor Julius Braunhofer (1829-1867). After her second marriage in 1869 with the bass Karl Brulliot (1831-1897) she retired from the stage. At the beginning of her career she sang mostly rôles in the coloratura repertoire like Queen of the Night in the “Zauberflöte”, Amina in “La Somnambula” and Susanna in “Le Nozze di Figaro”. Later in her career she also sang lyric rôles like Agathe in “Der Freischütz”.
