Adolf Grimminger (1827-1909); German tenor.
Originally he was a sculptor, but after a singing study with Aloys Bayer he made his debut in 1853 at the “Hofoper” in Munich. In the years 1854/59 he was engaged at the “Hoftheater” in Karlsruhe, at the “Hoftheater” in Hannover and at the “Wiener Hofoper” in Vienna. From 1860 until 1869 he was a member of the German Theater in Rotterdam (Holland). His most important roles were Masaniello in “La muette de Portici”, Lyonel in “Martha”, Raoul in “Les Huguenots” and Tannhäuser and Lohengrin in both eponymous Wagner opera’s.
