The police in NSW had 4 door versions of these (no turbos of course) for pursuit back in the day. Decades ago a work colleague had one which he had bought at a govt auction. It went very well without having any mods or upgrades done.

The Weiand Roots type supercharger on this (and the movie car) are actually just movie magic.
In the movie Max can turn it on and off but in real life if the lobes in the blower aren't spinning the engine can't get any air/fuel mixture through it and couldn't run.

It does look damn cool though. Kind of like the blower on the Monkeemobile. ; )
