ipernity: Cambodia from several views by Wolfgang

April 1996, my first visit to Cambodia was filled with a lot of handicaps by traveling trough the country. It was just the beginning that the nation opens its border for tourists. The horrific history the people had to suffer under the well known barbaric "stone age communism" you still could see in every corner every where at the country side. In this album I post photos captured from the infamous Khmer Rouge Prison Tuol Sleng or better known as S-21 and from the "Killing Fields" where the senseless and inhuman system killed 1.5 - 2 Mill. Cambodians.
One man, high educated in France, with his civic name "Saloth Sar" used the abbreviation of two English words "Political Potency" for his new common name called "Pol Pot". He changed the amazing country in a hell within a very short time.
Nether the less people shouldn't block out in their mind that the US marines killed many thousands innocent citizen before as collateral damage during the Vietnam war and gave the barbaric Khmer Rouge the perfect assumption for their coming into power.

Hereby please get informed that in this set I don't post my photos from the giant famous complexes of the temples from Angkor Wat near Siem Raep. It will be done in an extra album comming Jan. 2010.
