  • 235/365 - Next Stop Hogwarts...

We had one more day in Fort William, so caught the "Jacobite" Steam Train to Mallaig. This is the train and line featured in the Harry Potter films, when they're off to Hogwarts - this is the famous Glenfinnan viaduct, also feature din the films.

  • 234/365 - The End!

Kinlochleven to Fort William - about 15 miles. One moan - the Fort William tourist people have moved the "Official" end of the walk to the far end of town, to make walkers go an extra mile, rather cynically, past all the shops. The old end to the route di…

  • 233/365 - Before the rains came

Our shortest day - around 10 miles from Kings House to Kinlochleven (Midge capital of Scotland). This was after we'd ascended the aptly named "Devil's staircase", a 1850ft climb that isn't at all gradual! It chucked it down about half an hour after this w…

  • 232/365 - Bridge of Orchy to Kings House

A mere 12 mile day - uncomfortable on the feet, yomping across Rannoch Moor on one of Thomas Telford's military roads, built in the early 1800's. This panorama was taken from near to the Bridge of Orchy.

  • 230/365 - Loch Lomond Again

Stage 2 - better weather as we tramped another 21 miles up the eastern side of Loch Lomond - horrible underfoot - loads of tree roots and rubble for miles and miles, quite literally. We walked up to the Ardlui ferry on the eastern shore and caught the boa…

    Milngavie, outside Glasgow.

  • 227/365 - Eilean Donan Castle

Caught before it was invaded by hordes of tourists on my way back from Skye down to Milngavie, where I was going to meet up with friends to walk the West Highland Way.

  • 226/365 - Portree Harbour

So began the Scottish travels. Up at 2.30am to drive up to the isle of Skye to see Robbie Fulks and the Mekons play Aros, in Portree. I hadn't been to Skye for years - the drive over the bridge was absolutely stunning.

  • 223/365 - Available on DVD

From Holland. Got it off Amazon - subtitles (which i turned off) are in Dutch. There's about 2 minutes where there are some French people speaking where I needed English subs, but it didn't make a huge difference. A fascinating film - better than the one…
