Prestwick Airport

Prestwick Airport
Prestwick Airport (PIK) was the main Scottish airport for international/transatlantic flights until these flights were transfered to Glasgow (IMHO a leap backwards). The airport now looks run down, paint peeling on the outside and in the loo and other areas, the door frames and paint still looked 1970's. It still has the same ceiling which now looks old and dated. Every flight on the arr & dep screens (and there weren't that many) were Ryanair flights.

PIK should have stayed as the airport for long haul & transatlantic flights, modernised and had a high speed rail link connecting Glasgow.

PIK as a whole serves other purposes, but as a commercial airport it is a shadow of its former self.

As a kid I remember flying into Prestwick from Toronto. It was a nice airport in the summer of 1970.
