The headquarters building as seen from Dalkeith Road. The impressive boundary walls shelter the gardens from this busy thoroughfare.

Scottish Widows Fund and Life Assurance Society head office, Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh. Created by Basil Spence, Glover & Ferguson (1972) on the site of the publisher Nelson’s old printing works close to Holyrood Park. Landscape consultant Sylvia Crowe. Officially opened in 1976 and won a RIBA award in 1977.
