The Normal Type...
...of corner and gate posts one sees.
There isn't much imagination used on the newer ones that people build.
On the horizon to the left is the Butt of Lewis lighthouse. It's slightly over 2½ miles away.
And yes, the stones on the right of the track are painted white.

Presumably to make them more visible in the dark?

-- Edit to add, I now notice they have solar lamps along by the white stones. Looks like they don't want to fall in that ditch!

The solar lamps only work in summer. In winter it never gets light enough for long enough for them to charge up.
In summer it doesn't get dark so there is no point in having them.

Perhaps they get a bit of use out of them in late spring and early autumn. My solar fairy lights struggle in the later part of December and through January, either only coming on very briefly, or not on at all, but they're great the rest of the year.
