Kitten Wants...

...his breakfast, but the young rabbit didn't fancy the idea and finally went away after half an hour or so of them watching each other. Kitten retired back into the dry warmth of the house for the rest of the day.
Taken through the sitting room window on a gloomy wet morning.

Not a question of the rabbit 'getting away'. Kitten knows he can't catch them once they have survived out of the nest for a week or so. They get street wise very quickly, or eaten within a few days of emerging.

one of my cats has spent nights out recently waiting for the 'new' rabbits, unfortunately (for them) he 'gets' some of them too. It sounds like the cycle of catching them follows a similar pattern to the one you describe.

There are dozens of young ones around the place now. With me being away for so long the cats haven't been after them, so they have had a chance of facing the great outdoors without my preditors sneaking up on them as soon as they appear from the nest.

Don't I remember that Kitten gets a terrible bellyache after eating rabbit? One would think he would know better than to (hope to) taste them again....
