Just Flying By

Just Flying By
Sort of lets you see what the weather is like today- rather gloomy...
(For those who might want to know- that mast is just under a mile away. And the plane is very low- this is a low fly zone for training. I don't know the height of the mast- but there's no light on it)

Having some experience with radio towers I'd judge that one to be about 200-250' tall, well above the height at which it's supposed to be illuminated. I'll have to get an aviation sectional for your area and see if it's marked.

From what I understand it's 300 feet and above that needs a light- but I don't really know.

Here in the States it's 200', but it also depends upon the distance to the airport. I checked the charts for that area (which is not very well covered) and it's not shown. Then again, almost noting is shown on that chart, not even the lighthouse!

Stornoway has what it calls an airport- used to be RAF base, but that about 20 miles away. Other than occasional light aircraft, and the military, there's nothing going to fly near here lower than several 1000 feet.
There isn't really much here...
