Graffiti Tree

Graffiti Tree
How Not to Celebrate Earth Day :-(

Earlier this week, I visited Longwood Gardens and took a stroll through the forest path. As I was walking along, I saw no less than 5 trees completely covered from the ground to about 7 feet up the trunk with carved-in grafitti. It was a small demonstration on why we need to have an Earth Day; so we can be reminded to respect mother nature and avoid the urge to leave our "mark" everywhere we go.

Trees are very resilient as long as the 'artists' don't cut into the heartwood. I wonder though what inspires folks to cause possible death by ignorance.

That trunk makes an interesting contrast to the leading line into the woods. I think it can do real damage if overdone, just as the weight of padlocks can seriously damage bridge structure. 'True' love seems rather blind to such things!1

Wonder what was so special to do that in this specific place ...?
It's rather rare to see FIVE trees in the same place covered by grafitti ...
Beautiful and interesting photograph anyway, Valerie.
