Left - complete blade from Newstead Roman Fort, Scotland. 80-100 AD (from the National Museums of Scotland).
Right - a rare example where the complete bone handle assembly has survived. 60-110 AD (from the Land Niederösterreich Archäologischer Park, Carnutum.)
