Roz, I know what you mean... So much is over there, all of our photos, groups, sets, comments, contacts.. And when my account was deleted a few years ago, I was completely devastated by it. Losing all of that was just awful and the only reason I came back was because that was where everyone else was. But I honestly live in fear on Flickr... I can't relax and am always paranoid about if and when they will decide to just delete my account again. So this just seems like a great opportunity to start fresh and feel a sense of freedom! It will take us all time to get settled and feel comfortable here, but at least we know that we can post whatever the heck we want without the Flickr police breathing down our necks! :) *hugs*

rockymountainroz has replied to Melacacia
I can see that side of the story too, Mel! I remember when that happened to you. I would be devastated too if that happened to me. We will see what happens, friends are most important, and I want to be where everyone is. The rules here might be like the ones on flickr too. Time will tell, and right now everything feels frustrating! it is hard to see activity here, but we will see! Hugs to you!

Thanks, Roz. I want to be where everyone else is too, so I totally understand that! Yes, this is a little bit frustrating trying to figure out how to use the site, but I am sure it will become a lot easier as we get used to it.
I actually emailed the ipernity team before I told anyone that I joined here, because I wanted to make sure that posting images with links to sales was okay and that our accounts wouldn't be deleted if we post photos of things we've made, etc. They replied very quickly and said yes, it is fine. For me, it was a done deal then :)

I feel the same way and now that Flickr will be advertising. I don't like it one bit. I can't go back and make a new account. While I do back up my photos I still don't like being scared to share my work because I might get deleted.

I didn't realize that you had asked Ipernity about linking to sales and they said that it's okay. THAT is a big change for sure. That is good to know. It was certainly always dreadful when someone was just deleted without any notice. This site will just take some getting used to. It is still hard to see what's happening here as compared to the way it was on flickr. However, if we are all here, then I will be too.

All those photos that I have from 2006 and for a few years after that, are not all backed up because different computers crashed since then, and I lost my photos. NOW I back everything up, but I don't want to lost those early years either. I will just have to find somewhere to store them. No, I don't want advertising on flickr either.

OMG Thanks Mel for letting us know. I have not yet really selling anything officially and already feel in fear about account being deleted. I'm so glad to hear it is ok over here... still do not think I will try to be so obvious when i start selling my dress or having a shop set up etc... just in case.

I don't want to leave flickr too.
I have all my friends and more than 7.000 pics over there.

I have no idea how to save them all and bring them over.

I will try to use both but hopefully everything calmes down a bit and we find a place where we can have fun together again !

The whole thing seems sad, Isa! Already some flickr people say that they are not leaving there, dolly friends, I mean. Seems like this is not an easy solution, but one we need to think about! I have more than 14,000 photos on flickr...ha...everyday posting for all these years. LIke you, I just want this to be fun again too.

I have over 7 years over there too, 6 of uploading and sharing almost every day so I totally am feeling like there was a death in the family.. I think Ill keep my Flickr Ill check in but its hard to know that so much will change and the main aesthetic is so different :/ I want to give somewhere else a try before giving Yahoo any more of my Hard earned money!

You have tons of people who love you, you will be followed whereever you go ;)

Yes...same as you, Pamela, I have been on flickr since 2006, so this is a shock and it does feel like a loss to me. I knew the second I saw that new crap on flickr, that is was a horrible sign of things to come. I honestly did feel ill when I saw that new layout! IF we are all here, and it is easy to comment and see everything, that is a good thing. Aww, thanks, I don't know about that, but I don't want to lose touch with my friends!
Iris Blakk has replied to Lawdeda
I just joined last night and already see hundreds of Flickr friends over here and I feel good to be here. Me the same, aestheris is very important how your photos are presented. I'm sad that my Flickr page looks like a big bowl of salad. *sigh* while I love layout here a lot.

I, too, want to be where the dolly people are :) I feel like this is a good place to (possibly) have a fresh start. It's nice to have fewer contacts...I feel like I can really see my friends pics...sometimes it's overwhelming at flickr!! lol! I'm very glad to see you here...I am on both...I will always follow your beautiful photos!!

rockymountainroz has replied to Fishknees - Karin Ed…
Hi, Karin! Good to see you here! I still have to see the rest of your trip photos! Many of them I did see in the middle of some night, when I was too sleepy to comment! HA...now you know what a terrible sleeper I am! AND you are right, about adding contacts who are really the ones who keep in touch. My contact list on flickr also went back to 2006, which is why I had SO many contacts, and so many of them never kept in touch, or had left flickr, but it was so hard to go through that list and delete the names! Thanks so very much. I want to see your beautiful photos, girls and dresses too! I will not just leave flickr quite yet. I cannot seem to do that either! :D

I will leave the photos too, Laura...but try to find somewhere to store them. Gah...all of those old pictures that I have when I would do the little stories of my girls...haha...I don't want to lose those silly, not so great pix, but I was having fun with the dolls! :D
4 years ago.
plasticfashiondoll has replied to rockymountainroz
Roz did you put your old photos on an external hard drive? I was a lesson I learned the last time my account was deleted. I lost some very important photos. I was so upset. But it was my fault I had started to back up old photos on the external hard drive and then some how I got lazy to do it. booo to me

Squeaky monkey shared this site called pi.pe. It allows you to transport photos from Flickr to most places. It is not connected to ipernity so what I did was I put them in dropbox and then moved them to my external hard drive.
rockymountainroz has replied to plasticfashiondoll
Those photos from 2006-2008 or so, not on external hard drives! NOW I spend a fortune on them! I fill them up quickly! I have to remove the photos from my desktop, or else my computer would not run! :D I take sometimes 1000 pix in a DAY. I know, I need to delete most of them! HOWEVER, I am bad at taking the time to go through them all! I will look into pi pe!

Neither am I, but I prefer being able to see your photos here. There at flickr there is just too much going on on a page or it is black, but at the same time I love the detail & size at flickr just needs a better layout & not one that seems like so many apps on the phone! I will be at both for awhile! Although it may take a few years at least if I really decide to make the move I can transfer all the photos at flickr while I have my pro account! We will see...

rockymountainroz has replied to rhubsknit
I agree...I do like the quality of the photos, and actually, I do sort of like the black backgrounds at flickr, but so many other things, I hate! AND there should be a choice of whether we want to see photos on black or not! Thanks for stopping here, Barbara!

I like it better here (than the new flickr) already. The layout is more appealing and familiar and I like the article/ docs section, too. Sometimes I'd just like to drop a little line to everybody when I might not have a photo to share... it feels something like the best of the old flickr and blogger combined. I know what you mean about the history at flickr and I feel the same way, but we are all still together here and will build a new history. <3 Your photos make me happy wherever I see them! *hugs*

I found my way here too! I don't have as many photos as you do, Roz, so not as daunting a move for me. Hopefully ipernity will come up with an easy way to transfer photos over from Flickr. I plan on staying on at both sites for now, until I'm sure, although I'm not thrilled at the prospect...I have a hard enough time keeping up with one site!

Daunting is the word for it! I sort of don't know what to think, Marilyn! BUT seeing friends here makes things a lot easier. I will stay on both sites too for now, and like you, I feel like I am SO behind already on flickr, so trying to keep up with two places, makes me wonder: can I do it! I still have to add everyone as contacts...I have started, but not nearly finished! Thanks for stopping here!

I think Flickr is relying on the fact that communities have been built there and people won't want to move, change or not. Which is why they didn't bother consulting anyone. I must say I'm not impressed by the arrogance. If at least we were given the choice not to have our pictures shown in the justified format I'd probably be ok with the new Flickr. As it is, I find it very, very difficult, so I'm giving ipernity a change.
rockymountainroz has replied to ⚓char⚓
Arrogant, for sure. No, flickr only thought about money. I keep thinking about that. I guess that there are not many businesses or companies that don't make money the number one concern, but that does not make this any easier. I guess that we learned a hard lesson from this...while we cared for and loved our community on flickr...they never saw it through our eyes, we were deceiving ourselves if we thought that they did. AND I hate knowing that! :) So good to see you here, Char! I just don't want to lose touch with my favorite people...and the community that brings so much happiness to my life!

I will keep my Flickr account for now. I have almost 20.000 pictures over-there, all fully tagged with lots of info but now I'm afraid to add any more. I will move some of my Blythe pictures to Ipernity since it looks that my Blythe life will be here now that so many people from the Blythe community have moved here. Although I have all my pictures on an external hard drive, they can crash too just like computers, so I'm still looking for another safe place to store my pictures just in case there is a fire, earthquake or typhoon.
