Menai Suspension Bridge - 1 July 2013

Menai Suspension Bridge - 1 July 2013
The Menai Suspension Bridge [Pont Grog y Borth] was built in 1826 by Thomas Telford and links Anglesey [Ynys Môn] with Gwynedd. The first modern suspension bridge in the world, it was a remarkable feat of engineering. It stands a short distance from the arguably less attractive Britannia Bridge [Pont Britannia] originally built by Robert Stephenson between 1846 and 1850 but rebuilt in 1972-1980 following a 1970 fire.
