Winter Reality

The virus proliferates in winter circumstances, barrier gestures are becoming unthinking reflex gestures, the high occupancy of hospitals and the fatigue of health care staff (not supported by our government) regularly make the headlines...
I read all this in this stylized Polaroid, drawn on a wall to illustrate the confinement that is imposed on us. It perfectly shows in a few lines this "reality" that has become ours against all odds.

This is the sad reality I think everywhere. Healthcare workers are overwhelmed, they're no longer considered heroes thanks to conspiracy theories and caseload and mortality rate are needlessly higher than they should be. :(

We live in strange times with this virus, William. Here it's summer, but some dopey decisions have now allowed the Omicron version to run rampage across the country. Stay safe!

Cold reality William, the effects of which have been captured here so well. Sadly this awful pandemic has already impacted our lives again and again and I doubt we will see the end of it for a long while to come. Meanwhile stay positive and keep safe and well.

It must be very hard for you living in one of the worst covid places. Here in N.Z. we have gotten away with very minor effects. Your art says it all.

Thank you Tiabunna, Ecobird, Ulrich, Erika and Eunice! Here too bad decisions have been made and in half the country people don't even have to wear masks if they choose. The resulting numbers speak for themselves and one day hopefully will serve as a lesson for future generations of what not to do. As for living in a COVID epicenter, it's gotten to the point it is what it is. I'm fully vaccinated, wear a mask and take all the OT available because of staff shortages and don't give it much of a thought since there's not much I can do other than try to keep safe and hope my family members do the same. Stay well!
