McIntire Children's Home Baseball Team

McIntire Children's Home Baseball Team
The McIntire Children's Home was named in honor of John McIntire, one of the first residents of Zanesville, Ohio. In his will, McIntire [b. 1759 - d. 1815], provided for the establishment of a school for poor children. The McIntire Academy operated between 1836 and 1856, when it was taken over by the Zanesville Board of Education. A Muskingum County Children's Home was established in 1865 to provide homes for poor or orphaned children; in 1874 it was renamed the McIntire Children's Home. These ten boys, made up the baseball team.
