Fish and Chips ist ein Gericht aus in Backteig frittiertem Fischfilet und dicken frittierten Kartoffelstäbchen. Eine super-leckere Sache, besonders mit Essig! Sehr zu empfehlen!!

Ahh, fish and chips! What could be more British than that!
Well… almost anything, it turns out.
Fried fish isn’t a British invention at all, it was brought here in the 17th century by Jewish refugees expelled from Portugal. Arguments rage over who first married fried fish with chips, but it’s thought that the very first fish and chip shop was opened by Joseph Malin, a Jewish immigrant, in East London around 1860. Another refugee, you notice.
It’s popularity quickly spread. When Italian migrants passing through English towns and cities saw the growing queues, many sensed a business opportunity and set up their own shops in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Refugees again.
So if you are intending to celebrate Refugee Week this week, it seems you could do a lot worse than to do so with a plate of British fish and chips!
