Berlin

The Soviet War Memorial (Tiergarten) is one of several war memorials in Berlin, capital city of Germany, erected by the Soviet Union to commemorate its war dead, particularly the 80,000 soldiers of the Soviet Armed Forces who died during the Battle of Berlin in April and May 1945.
The memorial is located in the Tiergarten, a large public park to the west of the city centre, on the north side of the east-west Strasse des 17 Juni (17 June Street) in line with the proposed north-south avenue in the renamed city of Berlin ('Welthauptstadt Germania') and consequently with the planned Triumphal Arch, this (the 17 June Street) being the major east-west thoroughfare running from the Brandenburg Gate, going through Siegessäule (Victory Column) as far as Ernst-Reuter-Platz.

А где ж гуси?
В камыш ушли.
А где ж камыш?
Девки выжали.
А где ж девки?
Девки замуж ушли.
А где ж казаки?
На войну пошли …

Und wo sind die Gänse?
Sie liefen ins Schilf.
Und wo ist das Schilf hin?
Von Mädchen gemäht.
Und wo sind die Mädchen?
Verheiratet längst!
Und wo die Kosaken?
Sind fort in den Krieg!
