Unfortunately, it is part of the National Parks system, and the only riders are the employees who operate and maintain them.

However, not very far away from this locomotive is the border between Colorado and New Mexico, and the Cumbres and Toltec railroad. And, indeed you can get a ride on a real coal-powered steam train!
