I had a pet like this. Named Lucky. Lucky was coming out of his shelter every evening and I was horrified. But there was no choice than to accept him. After all, who said the house was just for humans. House was 250 y old and people were building houses on the places full of bugs, that means the place is healthy and good for living. I don't live there any more. Ahh you brought back memory from my early 'till later 20's. Time when I have experienced the best and tragic life . I thought I knew everything. I'm a bit more trained now. Thank you for the time travel.

"Time when I have experienced the best and tragic life"

An important time in your life Clt ? Was this a share household ? I think all of us that have lived in share households have had a pivotal house in our pasts. One that has marked us and changed the course of our lives. Mine was 35 year ago and much of what I am or am not today I can trace back to that house and time and the people I shared them with. And it lasted less than a year !

Was the "best and tragic" 2 separate things or were they one and the same? It seems to me that many of your self portraits have something in common, a sort of quietness, a wistfulness, something. Is this an echo of that time and place of yours? I don't mean to pry but I have wondered about this aspect of your self portraits. Is it bitter sweet to be taken back there by my spider? I hope I haven't caused you a sadness.

2 separate happenings at the same time. And the best so as tragic in the real meaning of those words ( I'm not drama queen in any sense :)) Maybe it's echo that only media such as photography shows cause in real life people think that nothing ever bothered me :) ( that means to be a " player " a life player :))

Now, that's is a theory no one can proof, right?
Since this is a quite public place I'll have to give you diplomatic and rhetorical answer. But the truth.
I don't think that about me. Life was/is pretty kind to me. Can't complain. I have lost somewhere and gain somewhere. I'm sure that many of people had harder and many had easier times.
And as far as photography is concern, it's easy to be " there " when someone else is taking picture of us, we're not alone then.

May I get of the couch now? :)))))))))))

"... as far as photography is concern, it's easy to be " there " when someone else is taking picture of us, we're not alone then."

An obvious explanation that didn't occur to me.
I suppose this is why few people in my life
have had reason to accuse me of being intelligent!
:-((

And you are right.
It embarrasses me that my question was as inappropriate
as it was unintelligent.

Nooo you are ever so sweet. You have made me smile and I thank you for that.
Maybe you're right but my answer had to be diplomatic.
Thank you for the smiles and care. :)*

Great capture, you don't really have to worry about the spiders, the snakes usually get them first.

I have read that the problem with the white tails and the wolf spider is the bacteria they carry on their fangs, not the venom itself. So I suppose it depends on where and what they have been eating.

It's the sharks you really have to watch out for. And the poisonous octopus. And the wasps.

... not to mention the crocodiles, water buffalo, feral pigs,
box jellyfish, blue bottles, sea snakes, stone fish, cassowaries
bull ants, fire ants, dingos, the platypus, kangaroos, scorpions
and the odd bloody emu (they are real shockers!).

When I think about it
I'm surprised we have a life expectancy
greater than our 30's
(laughing)))

Yes it is an extremely dangerous place. Then there is the UV levels, drought, floods, rabbit plagues, algae blooms, equine flu, mosquitoes and feral koalas.

k2hsharpe has replied to RWYoung Images
thanks for reminding me about the mosquitoes
(Ross River Fever, Barmah Forest Virus, Kunjin,
the 2 Dengue Fevers, Murray Valley Virus and
Japanese Encaphalitis and ??).
I suppose we could add ticks
(the 2 Spotted fevers and perhaps Lymes Disease).
Not to mention bush fires.
But the Feral koalas worry me the most !
I'm beginning to wonder whey we aren't all dead ?

Forgot the ticks, they are nasty. Aus is an extremely dangerous place. Some days I am afraid to go outside.

thanks Torganiel,
Huntsmen are nice spiders
unagressive and unafraid around humans.
In the 10 odd year I've lived in the Mountains
a few spiders have sunk their fangs into me
but never one of these.

ABOVE BED??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have SCREAMED.. and then run away... and I'd only come back when this monster is gone...

9-10cm??? I think the second alternative is, that I might have died due to a heart attack...

"I would have SCREAMED.. and then run away..."
... this was my exact reaction the first time
one of these surprised me on the wall
just above my pillow.
And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th times
LOL

But by the 10th time or so
when you know they don't leap,
you find yourself sitting and watching
with fascination

Szandor (D) has replied to k2hsharpe
NEVER! because there woudn't be a 10th time... either the spider is gone, or I won't enter that room again in my whole life!! x_x *fear*
