Hadouk Trio - BALDAMORE ( 2007 ) - Baldamore

"Hadouk is a word-play composed of Hajouj, african bass & Doudouk, armenian oboe. The Hadouk Trio is a band like no other. Founded by three adventurers and poet-musicians, it displays a charming nomadic music, light, spiritual and joyful.

Didier Malherbe (ex-Gong) masters the winds - clarinettes, saxophone, flutes, ocarinas and hajouj, of course! - with talent and grace. Steve Shehan is the drum master playing both with sticks and bare-handed, like he could talk with his kit, a lot of exotic percussion too. And Loy Ehrlich plays strings and keyboards but hajouj, kora, sanza too...
Gifted people, definitely.

The band has been around the last 10 years without ever losing its faith in melodic experimentations of any kind. Adding more ethnic instruments to their sound (khen, Lao mouth-organ, gumbass) mixing just the needed amount of electro sounds to their ethno-jazz. This album shows a more serene, relaxed side of the band that their previous recordings did It also was the perfect opportunity to invite a 4th man, pioneer in experimentations, Mr John Hassel (trumpet) who's featured on the three closing tracks of this album adding a little extra to the already excitingly eclectic music of The Hadouk Trio. A must try!"
