How Come You Do Me Like You Do

At the time they were a vaudeville comedy team Gene Austin and Roy Bergere wrote "How Come You Do Me Like You Do" in 1924. Gene went on to be one of the first crooners and in 1972 issued the LP "This Is Gene Austin" which had a medley of his hits including "How Come You Do Me Like You Do".

Marion Harris' (Harrison) recording of "How Come You Do Me Like You Do" featured Phil Ohman on piano and was issued in 1924 peaking at number five. The prolific composer W.C. Handy once said of Marion "she sang blues so well that people hearing her records sometimes thought that the singer was colored."
