I Can't Let Go


"I Can't Let Go" (A. Gorgoni - C. Taylor) was produced for Evie Sands by the writers Chip Taylor and Al Gorgoni in 1965. The tune was successful in the Northeast U.S.. She recorded for Blue Cat, a subsidiary of the Red Bird label. Evie was the first to record the Jackie Ross hit "Take Me For A Little While" and the monster "Angel Of The Morning".

The Hollies (Graham Nash, Tony Hicks, Eric Haydock, Bobby Elliott and Allan Clarke) version of "I Can't Let Go" was issued in 1966. The single peaked at number two in the U.K. and the top forty U.S.

Linda Ronstadt covered "I Can't Let Go" on the 1980 platinum album "Mad Love". This time the song reached the top forty while Linda was named Billboard's Top Female Artist of the year.
