Just One Look
In 1963 "Just One Look" (Doris Troy - Gregory Carroll) was recorded in ten minutes as a demo by "one hit wonder" Doris Troy aka Doris Payne (Higginsen). It was issued unchanged by Atlantic records. The single reached number ten on Billboard. Doris became a session singer and worked with The Rolling Stones, The Drifters, George Harrison, Pink Floyd on The Dark Side Of the Moon, Ben E. King, Dusty Springfield, Humble Pie, Carly Simon and Solomon Burke.
The Hollies (Graham Nash, Allan Clarke, Tony Hicks, Eric Haydock and Bobby Elliott) cover of "Just One Look" was released a year later reaching the top ten in the U.K. and became their first chart entry on Billboard. This is from the album "Here I Go Again".
Anne Murray's version of "Just One Look" is on her 1974 album "Love Song". The single hit number eleven in Canada and just made a dent on Billboard.
Linda Ronstadt's take on "Just One Look" comes from the 1978 album "Living In the USA". The single was issued the next year and peaked in the top forty pop and number five on the Easy Listening chart.
