Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy
Maxine, LaVerne and lead Patty were The Andrews Sisters who introduced "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" (Don Raye - Hughie Prince) in the1941 Abbott and Costello movie "Buck Privates". The song hit number six in the top ten. As an aside, according to Wikipedia: "Edward Habib in the CD program notes for "Songs That Won the War Vol. 2 The Hollywood Canteen" states that the Andrews Sisters' radio transcription of Elmer's Tune was "so popular it even played on German radio," noting that "the opposition embraced the Andrews Sisters and their songs in the same way the Allied Forces adopted Lili Marlene."
You gotta love The Devine Miss M, Better Midler peaked at number eight on the pop chart, number one Easy Listening in 1973. This is from here "Devine Miss M" album that also contains the hits: "Chapel of Love", "Do You Want To Dance" and that wonderful interpretation of John Prine's "Hello In There". Involved on the L.P. were Barry Manilow, Melissa Manchester, Cissy Houston and Arif Mardin. Bette has been nominated for Academy Awards and won Golden Globes, Emmys, Grammys and a Tony Award.
