Not sure if I got the translation right Simon "Counter Day" I have heard of End of day where all the odd bits of glass are moulded together at the end of the day to make paper weights etc.
It's quiet amazing all the different shapes lines squiggles blend together in this fashion.

A better direct translation is "Against Daylight" with the idea of pointing directly toward the source of light.
