Don't Get Your Feet Wet

Don't Get Your Feet Wet
HFF !! ...

The path to Head Harbour Lightstation is up this stairway and then over some small rugged islands; access to these stairs is across a sandbar that is only passable at low tide. Unless visitors there make a quick dash over-and-back, they are stuck for 12 hours ... until the next falling tide exposes the bottom of this stairway. This is not water for wading; high/low tidal range is about 7 meters. Nor is the weather often calm and sunny -- foggy and with dangerous waves is more the norm.

Interesting facts to this rusty "lifesaver" to the firm ground.
For emergency cases it's ok, but otherwise ... ;-)

HFF Wally. A fine shot and interesting information. Part of the Bay of Fundy?

Have a great weekend, Doug

Yup, Campobello Island is on the western shore of the Bay of Fundy, northwest of Grand Manan Island (which is the triangular island near the mouth of the Bay). Grand Manan is Canadian territory, as is the rest of the Bay. Massive tide rise-and-fall everywhere in the region. Realtors in DownEast Maine trying to sell "waterfront" property on tidal estuaries always take promotional shots at high tide, otherwise there is wide expanse of unattractive mudflats (often 100 meters or so) between shoreline and waters edge.

Hi Wally

Very nice picture, and great information!

I like it very much.

In these days of everybody suing everybody else, I am surprised the whole thing does not get closed off..! Maybe one day people will start to take responsibility for their own actions!!

Best Wishes, HFF, and a Good Weekend

... oh there are plenty of warning signs: in the parking lot, and leading down to the sandbar, and even one at the top of the stairway (which I cropped out) ... probably anyone clumsy enough to get trapped on the islands would get laughed out of local Canadian courts ...

... Am I blaming "the internet" and social media for everything? But it seems to me that people are taking less responsibility nowadays, rather than more ...
