This is really an amazing shot ! The Sassafras is unusually golden, and massive, and with the combination you have the perfect results. Most of our sassafras are saplings shrubs, good for digging the roots for tea. Only now and then do we see a big tree. Congratulations of such a pix.

Thanks Marvin ... This sassafras is actually in my woodlot. I recognized it 40+ years ago and when the 300-year-old White Oak near it died, it opened up about a 1/2 acre to sunlight; so the sassafras is doing better. Here in Piedmont Maryland, you rarely find a sassafras as a forest tree: mostly growing in clumps along roadsides and hedgerows -- where farmers and roadcrews with bush-hogs never give it a chance to be more than a shrub. This one mostly has mitten-shaped leaves.
