Shaftesbury - Gold Hill

After many hours of exploring, walking and driving on that unusual right side of road under fair but very summerly conditions, we entered, already a bit tired, at late afternoon this special and very nice country-town.

I remember the Ronnie Barker skit so well!
and I remembered it when I did actually walk up Gold Hill! I was still a smoker at the time and it was Purgatory!

Bank in the late fifties I used to ride up and down this hill on my bicycle to and from school, not every day because there are other hills to climb up and down too
