Cornish Coast at Crane Castle
I've probably posted this before now but I've run out of new Cornwall shots so the odd repeat will have to suffice! On the coast between Portreath and Godrevy at North Cliffs.
Crane Castle, so marked on OS maps, is an iron age promontary fort where only the landward defenses remain; everything else having been swept away by the sea over the centuries. The inevitable will soon happen to the colourful slope you see here and then there will be nothing left of Crane Castle. :o(

Hope you're well!
Andy Rodker club has replied to MaggsMep clubThank you, Maggie!
Some members do ask when I'm going to put up more Cornwall shots and I then have to explain why I can't go back at the moment and that even if I do I now don't have a driving licence thanks to Brexit so my photo taking opportunities would be v limited in any case. Sad but true!
Andy Rodker club has replied to José Manuel Polo clubI'm not worried about it. After all, I take many photos of the same site so some will obviously resemble others, maybe taken many years apart. I know for a fact that I must have taken dozens of photos at or very near this place over many years. Some duplication will inevitably occur!. When I've raised the issue, most members say it's fine; carry on! As do you!
All best wishes,
Andy

Every time I post a Cornwall coastal scene my Spanish (virtual) friends point out how similar it is to their particular favourite bit of coast ... Basque Country, Cantabria, Galicia, Asturias ... you get the picture - all Atlantic coasts and all very similar to Cornwall (and to Brittany too for that matter). It's the geology and the Atlantic weather that are the defining features of each gorgeous stretch of coast ... now even my Portugese friends on ipernity are (justifiably) saying 'similar to what we've got' And they're all correct; the Atlantic is the common factor!
irgendwann schaffe ich es bestimmt auch mal nach Cornwall :-))
in Deutschland eher bekannt von Rosamunde Pilcher Roman-Verfilmungen ;-D
Andy Rodker club has replied to malona clubI see the TV adaptations in Spain. It always amuses me ... German actors can't in any way act like normal Cornish people - it's just impossible! The views are very nice but I see one view behind a couple having a conversation and then the camera shows them from another angle and the backdrop is from 30 km away from the previous shot! And of course their German is dubbed into Spanish!
A right mess from my point of view!
Anyway, as long as the Cornish tourist industry benefits, I don't mind!
malona club has replied to Andy Rodker clubI haven't read the books, nor watched the tv-adaptation(s), my mother in law does, though. She's a great fan.
I can just imagine how funny it must be for locals or other people who know the regiom well to see the kind of mistakes made with different backgrounds ;-))
I usually prefer subtitles to dubbing, but sometimes dubbing is useful when learning new languages...
And you're right, bad publicity is better than no publicity ;-D
Andy Rodker club has replied to malona clubAfter the first few tours by German tourists / Rosamunde Pilcher fans, a 'customer satisfaction' survey revealed that, although the tourists enjoyed their holiday, there was one thing that puzzled them and upset them more than any other aspect of their trip. And it was that there weren't any sheep! Apparently many episodes of the TV films had fields of sheep and so did her books! (Whereas in fact sheep are not common in Cornwall - it's cattle country!) So, the following year, one enterprising farmer put that right!
He got a flock of sheep, colluded with the tour organizer and took his sheep by lorry one step ahead of the tour party. So visit 1 would have a field of sheep. Tourists then have lunch in a pub. Farmer takes his sheep to site 2 (next landmark) on the trip and releases his sheep. Tourists see another field of sheep and are happy. Farmer waits for the German tourists to go and have their Cornish tea, takes the sheep on to the next place .. etc., etc!
malona club has replied to Andy Rodker clubhope the sheep don't mind beeing ferried around just to please german tourists

Bon jeudi.
And if the coastline is melting like snow in the sun due to erosion, at least your photos, them, will not change ;-)
Bonne journée. Amitiés
A very nice picture, which I like very much!
Spectacular coast line

Jenny,
Many thanks to you both!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Eunice Perkins clubIt looks like heather is blooming there.
Does the impression deceive?
Andy Rodker club has replied to * ઇઉ * clubNo your eyes don't devceive you. Cornwall doesn't have climate, only weather - so hardy plants llike heather can bloom all year round but summer and autumn are their best times and this is a late summer shot, albeit from 11 years ago!
