Quince blossom. H. A. N. W. E. everyone!
A different tree. The leaves and blossoms are three times the size of those of my previous post; a different variety I'm sure. I'll be intrigued to see if the fruit will look any different. These I recognised immediately. The others are just so much smaller than any quince blossom I'd ever seen before! One for Project 21: Flowers.

I used to make quince jelly. I gave some to my mum each year who lined the christmas cake with it.
In Spain it is cooked down even further into membrillo paste (a very thick quince jam), almost always eaten with manchego cheese (a match made in heaven). Membrillo = quince and was the origin of our word marmalade (we never could get our tongues around Spanish pronunciation!) which was originally made with quince not Seville oranges (which in fact come from Valencia!)
Information overload and time for bed!
Andy Rodker club has replied to HappySnapperThey are good to mix with the cultivated when cooking jam - the big ones bring the mass, the smaller wild ones the fine taste.
Beautiful picture.
I took some photos of peach- and apricot flowers today ...
Andy Rodker club has replied to Leon_Vienna clubI mixed my cultivated quince with my chaenomeles Japonica for jelly and jam too! For the same reason, the only difference was that I didn't find or use wild quince.
I will take photos of each tree as the fruit ripens to see what difference, if any, there will be!
I look forward to seeing your fruit tree shots!
