Plaza de Chamberí. Madrid.

Plaza de Chamberí. Madrid.
The only possibly POV. All the other benches were occupied by the unfortunate, the homeless, the winos and the addicts. And it wasn't possible to stay too long because of the smells. A great pity. And it will only get worse ...
I kick myself now ... a shot of them on the benches might have made a more powerful statement.

A lovely image. At least they have somewhere pleasant to sit in their misery.

That is true. I also think it is where I could end my days ... in a worst case scenario of course ... but these possible scenarios become frightenlingly closer day by day!

Yes, It's a frightening time. I and many of my friends feel glad that we are old yet part of me wants to be here to see how the story continues even if there is misery. Take care and have a good week

Sad, Andy, we also have some misery in Paris and other French cities. Whatsoever, you have the good angle to show the beauty of this place ! Have a nice week !!

At the time you took the shot it looks lovely Andy.
A hard time for the homeless and many others soon, with the loss of jobs!
Gosh it sounds so depressing.
Have a good week !!!

The light and shade helps to make this place look so lovely but sadly your text tells another story Andy,

Pensaba que estaba desierta la plaza por el calor. Eso ocurre en todas las grandes ciudades. Es una lacra de nuestra sociedad y las cosas solo hace empeorar. Es deprimente para todos, así quien puede ser feliz?

What a very pretty town square; it is such a shame that so many homeless people are using it as a place to sleep and "relieve" themselves. :-(

Thank you. Valerie.
Better there than right outside my front door. There were a dozen or so of them on the street benches directly in line with my front door and the community refuse bins for about a fortnight. No masks, spitting and worse. Very hazardous. Eventually the police cleared them but they are slowly returning. I pity them but it is a health problem for them and for us.

A lovely shot and a beautiful location.............you'd never guess at the problems it doesn't show!

Just a few feet to the left of me and 3/4 of the square is worse than a shanty town (worse, because there isn't even any corrugated iron for walls and roofs)!

In situations like we are all going through, I feel so sorry for these homeless people, because they have nowhere to go to be safe, so they drink so they don't have to think. This park is a lovely looking place

It's a horrible problem and I always say ... 'There, but for the Grace of God, go I' ... but the moment when the Grace of God runs out for yours truly seems to get ever nearer by the day.
